The textbook publishing giant Pearson has suffered a large-scale data breach impacting over 13,000 school and university accounts. The attack is said to have occurred in November 2018 when the personal information of hundreds of thousands of students were accessed by hackers.
The data included first and last names, email addresses and dates of birth. No financial information or social security numbers have been stolen. The perpetrators are as of yet unknown.
Pearson has contacted victims of the breach and offered them complimentary credit-monitoring services. This news comes just one day after the massive Capital One Data Breach hit major news outlets.
